The earliest documented dramatic performance at King's Mead comes from records of the actor and director Bernard Frith (to KM in 1923 and still alive as of December 2001) held at the University of Texas at Austin (Frederick Harold Frith Banbury, 1912- : Papers, 1926-1995 -Preliminary Inventory). These refer to his roles as Susie in "Salad Sir" and Violet D'Arcy in "A Fool There Was". He subsequently went to Stowe (1926) and Oxford (1930)
